Hitler s Influence On Society - 883 Words
World War Two was filled with many different leaders, who all carried different leadership tactics that supported the efforts of the war in various ways. Two leaders that had a huge impact on the outcome of the war were Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler. These two leaders were most commonly known for their negative impact on society; however, I am choosing to compare the good that these two leaders did for their country during their time in leadership. Hitler took control of Germany in 1933. While Hitler is commonly known for negative reasons, I feel there is much that can be appreciated about his time in leadership. Hitler was not always such a harsh man. During his time Hitler declared that testing on animals was not to be done and that it was inhuman. Hitler felt that nature was something to be respected, and by treating animals with no disrespect he felt that he was respecting nature. Hitler also created the first anti-smoking (tobacco) campaign. During his time as a leader of Germany, German doctors discovered the negative effects of tobacco. Adolf Hitler was also a very strong public speaker. He had the charisma to make a man want to serve and give their lives for Hitlerââ¬â¢s country. Hitler, as corrupt as he was, was able to convince all of his followers that a race was considered perfect. This ââ¬Å"perfect raceâ⬠was a racial category that Hitler, himself did not fall into. Boarding School Care Packages
When you decide to let your child go to boarding school, there are a few things you can do to help ease his or her transition. Yes, its true that attending boarding school can be a wonderful academic and social experience for the right kind of student. Boarding schools can offer academic and extracurricular activities that are not available to students in their local public or private day schools, and parents can remain involved in studentsââ¬â¢ lives through contact with their advisors andà frequent visits when permitted. Butà homesickness canà still be a problem for even the strongest and brightest students who are away at boarding school. While it often passes quickly as students are absorbed into the life of the boarding school, contact from home in the form of phone calls (when allowed), notes, and care packages can help students feel connected to home. Students truly do enjoy receiving care packages from home with some of their favorite snacks, dorm room basics, and study supplies. Here are some tips and ideas.à Check What the School Allows Before mailing off your special care package, be sure to check and see what the school allows, and where to send packages. For example, packages may have to be delivered to the dorm proper or in some cases, it needs to be sent to a postal office or a main office; its often not possible to have something delivered directly to your childââ¬â¢s room. Also, keep in mind that packages may be delayed over the weekend, so only send items that will keep a few days, and mail homemade goodies via priority mail in plastic (possible reusable) containers surrounded with bubble wrap or a recyclable, environmentally friendly material for cushioning. Mail birthday or holiday packages several days in advance to be sure they arrive on time. Some schools offer programs that allow for parents to order goodies through a local shop or even the dining services program on campus.à Mail the Necessities First, check what your child needs. He or she may be allowed to make some food in the dorm, so it can be nice to see if your child would like foods like ramen, hot chocolate, or soup. Items such as oatmeal, microwave popcorn, or pretzels make healthier late-night snacks, and its always a nice idea to be sure to send extra supplies for roommates and friends. However, food storage options may be limited, so get a good idea of how much to send and what can be easily stored. Students may also need school or personal supplies such as pens, notebooks, or shampoos. A child who is feeling under the weather can benefit from an extra set of soft tissues, even if the nurse at school is dispensing the medicine the child needs. Medicine is often not allowed in the dorm, so be sure to keep that at home and out of the care package. Instead, send some crackers, hard candy or a beloved stuffed animal from home. Mail Memories of Home Students may also appreciate personal items in their care packageà that help them keep in touch with their family and friends at home, including hometown or school newspapers, yearbooks, and photos. And donââ¬â¢t forget mementos of pets, too, as a way of warding off homesickness. If there have been any special family events while they are away, be sure to make the children who are away feel included, with details about the menus, presents, or other details associated with these events. If there have been changes at home such as a house renovation or new car, be sure to send photos of these new family events to the child who is awayââ¬âsuch visual cues about the family life will help them transition more easily back to life at home and will help them continue to feel included. Home-made videos and news and notes from friends and family members are also warm additions to care packages. Donââ¬â¢t Forget That Special Something If all else fails or youre running out of ideas, your student may appreciate a gift card or a few extra bucks in addition to the necessities, and such items are easy to ship, alongside the homemade cookies. And as mature as your child seems, he or she may enjoy a playful toy, possibly something they can share around the dorm, such as a Frisbee for warm afternoons. In every package, be sure to include an encouraging note that lets your child know you are thinking of him or her and awaiting his/her next visit. Though teenagers may not always show it, they need and appreciate the encouragement. Updated by Stacy Jagodowski

Oscar Wilde s The Picture Of Dorian Gray - 1656 Words
The Victorian era is an extraordinarily complex age that occurred throughout the reign of Queen Victoria from 1837 to 1901. The Victorian Era was a tremendously exciting period that created the emergence of many various artistic styles such as literacy, poetry, and painting. In addition, the Era caused the social, political, and religious movements to flourish. The Victorian Era, although being known as the beginning of modern times, still embraced some radical views that today we would associate as prudishness and repression. In 1890, author Oscar Wilde wrote The Picture of Dorian Gray and submitted it to Lippincottââ¬â¢s Monthly Magazine. The magazineââ¬â¢s editor, J.M. Stoddert, immediately declined the novel and determined that it would offend the sensibilities of his readership (Wilde x). It was believed that Oscar Wildeââ¬â¢s book contained explicit sexual, especially homosexual, content which contradicted the time period of the Victorian Era and was deemed obscene. It was not until 2011, that Wildeââ¬â¢s novel was published as originally written under the title, The Picture of Dorian Gray: An Annotated, Uncensored Edition. The Uncensored Picture of Dorian Gray highlights the triangular relationship between the three leading characters: Basil Hallward, Dorian Gray, and Lord Henry Wotton. Answer: Introduction: Business environment is the total of external and internal factors that affects the companys operations and functions like customers, employees, stakeholders, demand and supply, competitors etc. These external and internal factors are dynamic in nature, they keeps on changing which is unpredictable. Business environment is different in every country. Every business has some objectives which they need to accomplish and sustain themselves in the market. Every organization should do a study on their business environment to understand the market and the future prospects related to planning and action for the betterment of the organization and achieving the organisational objectives. The below is the detailed analysis about the company name Coca-Cola, a well-known and renowned brand of beverages across the globe. Coca-Cola started its journey in the year 1886, when Dr. John S. Pemberton who was a pharmacist wanted to create a soft drink with distinctive taste. He created a flavored syrup get the same tested at the pharmacy and it was liked by those who tested it. Dr. Pemberton and his partner Frank M. Robinson opened the company name Coca-Cola. It started with the 9 servings per day for 5 cent per glass in Atlanta but now its 1.9 billion servings per day are estimated globally. In next 2 yrs. the company was sold to various parties after it becomes the worlds number one sparkling drink(Myanmar, 2012).The distribution of Coca-Cola was expanding, the growth rate was very high and hence the company decided to make portable beverage. They installed the bottle plant for Coca-Cola. Benjamin Thomas, Joseph Whitehead and John Lupton purchased the bottling rights and made the bottling system of Coca-Cola worldwide( Houpt, 2011). With the growing needs and demand of the industry there were many challenges faced by the bottlers, the plants at that time were capable of producing 1000 bottles at a time. So the bottles decided that this drink a distinctive and standard bottle. Contour bottle was selected in 1916. The new bottle was very unique and catchy, it can recognize in the dark also and it sets the co-cola brand apart from its competitors. In 1977 the bottle got the trade mark and there are many artists who keeps on working on the logo and designing of the Coca-Cola. In 1987, the first marketing tactic was considered which distribution of coupons for the free sample was. It was an innovative tactic and after they advertised Coca-Cola in newspapers. After that many advertising campaigns took place like Many fondly remember the 1971 Hilltop Singers performing Id Like to Buy the World a Coke, or the 1979 Have a Coke and a Smile commercial featuring a young fan giving Pittsburgh Steeler, Mean Joe Greene, a refreshing bottle of CocaCola (Geuss,2010). People started relating the brand of Coca-Cola with friends, fun and good times. In 2009, the campaign name Open happiness took place globally. It gives a simple message to enjoy the small events of happiness around us. We need to halt, enjoy and get back to work. The campaign message was seen all over the place on television, radio, shops, billboards, Printed advertisement. It was also the part of various sports events and these campaigns ran for about a year through videos, tweets, pictures, bogs etc. There is a connection baton wellness and happiness and Coca-Cola is playing a big part into the same around the globe. Key Success Factors In todays competitive industry, key success factors are very important to survive. Factors like products, resources, competencies, attributes and market achievements. It is important to understand the industry background for recognizing the success factors(Mark, 2000).Because of the various external and internal factors there may be change or fluctuation in the key success factors. Some of the key success factors for Coca-Colaare as below: Strong Global Presence: Coca- cola is available worldwide;almost every nook and corner of the world and it is because of the easy portability and less risk of getting spoiled. It is sold in markets, restaurants, stores through bottles as well as vending machines(Georgia, 2012).The presence of Coca-Cola is in 200 countries and it is due to the marketing strategies and global expansion policies. It is the leading drink of 20th century. Licensed Bottles: This is one of the major success factors of coke. They produce mixture and give it to their licensed bottles and they further produce the final product by adding sugar and filtered water. These bottles have access to the local territory and they sell it further in the market and to local vending machines. This gives them the more geographical area for serving the product. Fixed assets utilization: Coca-Cola operates on the global scale and still has local approach with the help of bottling system. These firms allow them to run business in local market with licensedtrademark. Since the ultimate revenue goes to the bottlers and hence they generate it majorly through selling the concentrate to the bottlers (Benson, 2004). Differentiation and advertising: Coca-Cola is major player in advertising and they believe in differentiating their product rather than focusing on pricing. In 2000, the coke has spent $1.3 billion dollars on advertising. They always have theme attached to their advertising campaigns and have associated with worldwide sports event like cricket, football(Harford, 2007).Their focus is to appeal the masses in segments. They keep their product different from their competitors by always giving it a different tag line or variety of flavors available in market as per the preference, need and geography. Cherished and recognized brand name: Coca-Colahas established a brand name worldwide. Everyone what Coca-Cola is, everyone has tasted it, they have their loyal customers now and hence it has given them a success factor. The other products like minute maid, Fanta of Coca-Cola brand are highly profited because of the brand name associated with them. Distribution and retail network: In this era of competition, if the product is available at the doorstep of the consumer it means it is not working. Coca- cola has a very strong chain of distribution and retail network. They provide 15-20 % margins to the retailors which are enough for them to keep the Coca-Cola products with them (Mark, 2000). Product Innovation: Coca-Cola cheery, Coca-Cola Zero, Coca-Cola vanilla are the different variations of the main product. The company keeps on experimenting and giving variety to its consumers. The reason is to always give consumers better taste and surprise according to their needs and preferences. This keeps their market open and does not bring fatigue in customers. Big Product Line: Diet Coke, Coca-Cola cheery, Coca-Cola Zero, Coca-Cola vanilla, coffee, lemon is all the variety of coke available in the market. So there are various products launched under one product line. Different countries offer different product line (Katie, 2011). The success criteria for any organization are very important. The purpose of nay business is to be successful in the market, beat the competition and achieve organisational objective. There may be different views for judging the organisational success like time, quality, cost or growth but according to experts, for Coca-Cola it is their approach towards their customers(Brett, 2011).They have been into the market from part 125 yrs. and that only because they have loyal customers and they are able to provide the quality product to them. They have always been innovating their products bringing something new for their consumers as per their taste and geographies, they have been able to associate themselves with various worldwide events and providing happiness to the viewers of the events, because of their larger consumers they have a big and strong distribution network and they are globally present. 1.9 billion Servings per day proves it that its only the customer focus they have when it come to their success factor SWOT Analysis for Coca- Cola Strengths: Coca-Cola is multinational company with its presence in more than 200 countries. They have almost the biggest number of customer base and the largest selling beverage company. They have breadth of product line according to geographical presence and preference. The product can be consumed by anyone of any age and they are existing in some counties where they have no competitors. Also theyproduce their bottles themselves. (David, 2011). Weaknesses: The major weakness of Coca-Cola is that they are significantly focused only on carbonated drink and they have not diversified their products. They are also in debts due to unreasonable acquisitions. Also some of their brands are not doing well in the market and they have been spending a lot of revenue on them. Opportunities: There are many opportunities for Coca-Cola to grow like increase in the consumption of bottled water, growing consumption of beverages especially in BRIC, more demand of healthy beverages, they can also acquire some new and small beverage company and can grow. Threats: There is a huge competition in the industry; there are similar products available in the market. A small is mistake will not be affordable by the company like internal conflicts like late salary payments, employee conflicts, bad team work etc. which can lead to late delivery and bad reputation of the organization (May, 2006). Swot analysis provides a clear picture to the organization about their current situation and help in developing the plan of action. It has provided Coca-Cola about the strengths they are carrying and the weaknessthey have along with future opportunities and threats. This has given picture to Coca-Cola for its survival strategy and future action plan. In order to achieve the profit above market average, the Coca-Cola should apply their business model, network and core competencies. PESTEL Analysis A pestle analysis is one the method to analyses the external factors that affects the business. This can be used with other methods to analyses the internal factors. This is used to create the strategic plan for the business and the upcoming opportunity for the business. Pestle stands for political, economic, social, technological, environmental and legal factors (Tucker, 2009). PESTEL analysis for Coca-Cola Political: Political factors like tax policies, trade restrictions, tariffs, employment laws, environmental regulations, political stability, corrupt government, underdeveloped economy affects the company. It has affected Coca-Cola also in several ways. Hence these factors should be considered always because they vary from country to country and Coca-Cola has to consider new policy and government laws for every new country where they open their business (Stafford, 2012). Economic: There may be countries which are poor or underdeveloped or may be in a developing stage. This affects the pricing of the Coca-Cola product. People may be poor and due to credit crunch they may like to invest their money in more important items like food, accommodation, clothing etc. that affects the companys business (Will, 2007). Social: Social issues are like age, heath factors of a particular place, where maximum number of people are of higher age and taking beverages is not good for their health that affects the company business. Technological: Technology plays a very important role these days, the countries which have better technology there are facilities for better packaging systems, automation process, more RD activities and growing economy. Hence in such a case the Coca-Cola has to take advantage and can grow their operations there. People are more advance in such country they require innovation and change from time to time as well as they are more informed about the product and service they are using. Hence, the company needs to be more careful, honest and advance in such a place (Julian, 2012). Environmental: Environment factors like hot and cold climate, there are places which are very cold throughout the year their people would prefer a warm beverage over the cold one. There are places which are hot in climate and their consumption of water and cold beverages are more. Hence, Coca-Cola sale strategies should keep such factor in mind (Murden, 2005). Legal: Legal factors are particularly related to the tax and legal laws of the country. There may be high tax in some countries and in some countries there may be no tax on the food and drink items. In some counties Coca-Cola is paying high tax but generating less revenue. In such cases the company strategies for pricing differs and it particular affects the decisionmaking for Coca-Cola. Various Micro and Macro environment factors can be analyzed by using SWOT and PESTLE framework for Coca-Cola. It affects the decision making, helps in facing and fighting the competition and also ascertaining the future of the company by defining the threats. It is not confirmed to the profit making rather they are wonderful tool for strategizing the planning and action for Coca-Cola. (Kripalani and Mark, 2003). Culture Every organization has it unique characteristics and personality, like any person. These unique characteristics makes an organization culture.Organisation culture affects the Behaviour of the people working together to achieve companys objectives. It is a kind of invisible force. Organisational culture is process of shared values, assumptions, beliefsetc. that affects the behavior of the people working with that organization. It affects how they act, dress and perform their tasks. It is kind of boundary and guideline that makes a unique culture(Barbara and David, 2007).Every organization has some unique characteristics on the basis of which the culture is formed. Innovation is one characteristic, the employees takes high risk and brings something new in the organization if organization believes in innovation, otherwise the employees do their work in the same manner always. The organization which gives more emphasis to attention to detail are likely to see better results rather than t hose who gives less importance to attention to detail. There are organization which are more outcome oriented , they does no emphasis on the process of work they only requires the results. There are organization which provide fair treatment to their employees in terms of salary, treatment etc. and give them dignity and respect. There employees are more likely to stay with the organization and have low attrition rate. Teamwork is another important aspect for any company, where there is more emphasis on team work , people are likely to have better relationships with their managers, subordinates and peers (Orozco, 2006). The above characteristics define an organisational culture. The more positive organization culture is likely to have more success rate and satisfaction within the employees. Coca-Cola culture is defined by the seven values they follow which are passion, leadership, integrity, diversity, collaboration, accountability and quality. They believe in creating valued culture and making a difference. With the change in the business environment the culture of Coca-Cola has also changed. They believe in two assets that is their people and their brand. They are dealing with worldwide diverse staff members, ideas and talents. They are able to embrace the diverse world and creating sustainability (Jessica, 2011). They have programs which retain and attract the diverse talent. They believe in respecting humans and giving them a better workplace as part of their culture and sustaining business. Coca-Cola is also providing a safe and healthy work environment. Every individual is important to them and they have a right for workplace safety (Hamowy, 2007).Business partners and suppliers are core for their business success, so they are following supplier guideline principl es that gives importance to responsible workplace practices and policies and applicable to the local labor laws, technology, environment and regulations. Theyalso practice Anti-bribery law for protecting companys reputation. There are more than 70000 associates who are making the Coca-Cola system. They believe in environment where everyones talent and ideas are encouraged. They have open flow of communication where staff member can discuss the issues, share ideas, information, share success and information, increase awareness. Various development programs are there in which the people can learn and grow their skills, they are also offering the best competitive packages as per the industry standards. High performers are rewarded and recognized(Boville, 2004). Hence, with the changing business environment Coca-Cola is working hardtop give fair treatment to their workers, manage the diversity programs on regular basis and developing enhanced understanding with suppliers, stakeholders, colleagues and customers (D'Amato, Fasoli, Kravchuk, Righetti,2011).This is a long term strategy which gives rise to the long term success of the company. If the company is rigid and not ready to change with the changing environment , they may not be able to sustain in long run. But with the company like Coca-Cola which is globally present , have to deal with the cultural issues on daily basis and they are imbibing the new practices and changes. Theyre understanding the external and internal factors that are responsible for the growth of their organization and leading towards success at the marketplace (Esterl, 2011). Directors Letter To Juliets Actress Essay Example For Students
Directors Letter To Juliets Actress Essay I am writing to you to aid your research, rehearsal and performance of this fabulous play in which you have the very important role of playing Juliet. Shakespeare wrote the majority of his masterpieces in Stratford-on-Avon but he set the stories in foreign countries, in this case Verona, but based them upon the customs of that time that he knew from the area he worked and lived in. This life was very different to the one we have now with different understandings about how people, especially children, should behave and their attitude towards their parents. This vast difference comes across very strongly in this scene (Act 3 scene 5). Juliet was born into a noble house and in these places marriage was often contracted at a young age for many reasons including property, prosperity and family alliance. But the average age of marriage was still quite high, in the middle twenties. Women married younger than men; with an average gap of three years which is similar to the age of consent which happens to be much younger than that of today. In 1619 it was 12 for a girl and 14 for a boy and again this is apparent in this scene as Juliet is not even 14 when she is betrothed to Paris and consummates her love to Romeo. Shakespeare himself was married at the age of 18 as was normal suggestible by the low marriage age in that period. The reasoning behind this late marriage age is that it took a long time for a couple to acquire enough belongings to set up a household. This why children of noble birth had to respect their parents marriage wishes otherwise they would be left without resources. This induces fear of acting without permission which is strengthened because of their young age which also induces further tragedy. In society of that time, children were expected to obey their parents in all circumstances and parents also had the right to arrange their childrens marriage. Especially their daughters. But this meant Juliet and her fellow females would be subject to this rule twice over: female to male, and child to parent. But religious teaching enforced that children should not be forced into a marriage that they resisted. This scene plays a major part in moving the plot forward and from here the tragedy begins to build as all other characters are either abusing Romeo or saying he is lost forever. Juliets plan to kill herself is very ironic because both Romeo and Juliet end up committing suicide because of their families feud. This feud is exaggerated in this scene because both Lady Capulet and the Nurse try to put Romeo down That same villain, Romeo. Juliets character undergoes massive changes in this scene. At the beginning and throughout Juliet still refers to her mother as Madam or Lady Mother which is extremely polite and expected of her. But her tone of voice changes. Her words have underlying meanings and she is deceiving her parents. This shows she has matured as she is no longer an innocent, obedient, submissive and weak little girl but a strong willed young woman with an independent mind. Also showing this is Juliets emotional state as it gets ever more complex. This must be conveyed to the audience as upset after Romeo leaving, happy about consummating their love on their first night together, yet fear from knowingly doing wrong and confusion about her feelings towards Tybalts death. This scene also shows how Juliet is taking control of her own life by firstly deceiving her parents, out rightly refusing to abide by their wishes and marry Paris but still showing strong devotion towards her husband and lover even though s he faces great peril. The audiences opinion of Juliet vastly improves at this point appealing to their emotional state as human beings and the pity they feel towards her for she cannot be with the man she passionately adores. .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab , .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab .postImageUrl , .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab , .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab:hover , .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab:visited , .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab:active { border:0!important; } .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab:active , .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u4511699f1f20993a33598771b08edaab:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: How is conflict portrayed in Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet'? EssayThe fact that Romeo and Juliet are in love at such a young age may seem rather false to many people but this scene proves Juliets undying devotion and love doesnt falter even whilst facing eviction from her family and home. The relationship hasnt changed between Juliet and her mother up until now but it falters when Capulet enters. Lady Capulet is angry and ashamed that her daughter would refuse such an offer and embarrass them so but the slight maternal instinct she must have towards Juliet is overpowered by the above as she doesnt reach out to her daughter to help her. Capulet is extremely angry and ashamed which is understandable as in a noble house, the reputation and respect of the family name had to be maintained. Therefore, the relationship between Juliet and her parents in this scene means she is more isolated and alone than before. This isnt helped by the nurse, who is Juliets closest friend, ho offers no comfort what so ever and even further offends Juliet by abusing Romeo herself. Juliet now has no one to turn to for advice and solace so she feels her only way out is death. If they had been more understanding and not forced a dictatorship upon Juliet, she may not have come to this conclusion. Several themes are developed in this scene and all are big contributors to the final tragedy. Juliet is battling against her parents will about marrying Paris which is surrounded by the authority of the elders, and so is battling for the right to marry the man she loves even though they belong to feuding families. Secondly, there is love versus duty. Should Juliet follow her heart or abide by her duty to do her parents wishes? Comedy versus tragedy is a very important theme as the plot battles within itself even though we know from the chorus at the beginning that fate has already been decided and tragedy will override. All of the events in this plot build up to a final tragedy which is destined to happen as it is foretold that even such a strong and binding love as theirs will not survive the turmoil of feuding familys, family honour and duty to ones parents. Shakespeare uses imagery to build up a picture of the argument between Juliet and her parents whilst using the correct language to inform and hide the true meanings behind Juliets words. At the beginning of this scene Juliet is upset, so should have silent tears running down her cheeks and only the tone of voice should give away her sadness so as to build up the confusion and upset further on in the scene. All of the lines in this scene have double meanings so on lines such as yet let me weep for such a feeling loss they should be delivered carefully and thoughtfully to invoke the dramatic irony. When Lady Capulet starts insulting Romeo, Juliet will feel immediate anger and resentment so the tone of voice should change again to show anger and hatred rather than sadness. What villain madam? must be conveyed defensively without replying too fast to show Juliets instinct to stand up for her husband without alerting Lady Capulet. Juliets speech of refusal to marry Paris is very important because it shows how Juliets character and attitude has changed. It must be said in a strong, clear, determined, defiant and independent voice that contrasts to the puppet-like one of earlier on in the play. Towards the end of the scene the sobbing must be built up especially when Capulet enters the room to show his authority and strength over Juliet. Also, Juliet is becoming more desperate and cautious by the second, so this must be conveyed to the audience in her voice and body language. At the end of the scene Juliet must shrivel up into her quietly confused, desperate and sad frame of mind but still panicky to show her isolation by having fear in her eyes and voice. Her anger must overrule this frame occasionally to express her anger towards the other characters, and her horror and disbelief that the nurse is no longer by her side must also be shown in the line Speakest thou from thy heart? .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7 , .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7 .postImageUrl , .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7 , .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7:hover , .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7:visited , .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7:active { border:0!important; } .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7:active , .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7 .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u4cf3052cfb5b1a271a24ae149e6418b7:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Merchant Of Venice Analysis EssayThe mixed emotions conjured up in this scene and the amount of drama created through the love of two people is phenomenal. It varies from happiness to sadness, anger to disbelief, and various states of confusion. This creates drama through the entire play as it is unpredictable which creates suspense and a feeling that a character is about to explode with emotion at any one time. Shakespeare is very successful at dramatising the situation because of all the mixed emotions and the contrast in social status and society from then to this day. This scene fits in with the entire play because it shows all the contrasts between Juliets previous li fe and her life with Romeo which forced her to mature quicker than is probably good for you. It fits because it shows how deceiving Juliet had to be because of society and because of these wrongs in the society; it shows the tragedy that was destined to happen. I hope this has been of use to you and will aid you to take on this role as it is a very important part and must be performed correctly. I wish you every success with Romeo and Juliet.
