The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, depicts the punishment and nominateing of sines. Hawthorn gives from each one one very different consequences and remedy for each sin. The characters in the book are: Hester Prynne, the woman taken into adultery, Arthur Dimmesdale, the young see of religion she committed the sin with and Rodger Chillingworth, her husband.
